I've made a complete hash of this temp job from start to finish - what do I do now?

I started a temp job said I would work to 17th October
Then I said I needed to finish on 3rd October

Then I was off Thursday & Friday last week with a cold

Now I have just walked out of church this am to come home to bed as I so not fit to be out

Based on previous experience I will be in bed the next 3-5 days & then post-viral for about 3 weeks (I have ME so this while I haven't been like this for several years it is fairly common for me)

There is no way I can go to work like this - what on earth can I do?

relax, youre just a temp. The agency will replace you.

RedOnHerHead · 28/09/2008 16:32

your health is more important, worry about it when you feel better - just get yourself well first.

KatyMac · 28/09/2008 17:04

I just spent all afternoon asleep

I know I'm not important - I just feel unreliable and that I am usless

Don't feel like that - your condition is just getting you down - If you slept all afternoon then it's because you needed it. You are not unreliable either - if you had time off because you fancied a day shopping then I'd call you unreliable, but you have a genuine reason why you need time off and I'm sure you are not useless. Try not to be so hard on yourself - ME is a difficult condition to live with, and many people with it don't work at all - hats off to you!
Take the time to get yourself well again.

Do I go to the Dr & try for a sick note

Do I just phone in sick for the week

Do I phone in & say I might be in later in the week

Do I phone the agency

I am so indecisive

ring the agency and see what they suggest

KatyMac · 28/09/2008 17:58

I guess - I wonder what time they open?

I should be at my desk to open up at 8:45 - the boss doesn't get in until 9 ish and is a couple of miles away so won't be able to get anyone in place until 9:30/0 at the earliest

Some agencies have a 24 hour telephone number you can ring - for situations like this.

I would try ringing them now, there may well be a 24 hour number left on an answerphone or (in the case of the agency I worked for), your call may be put straight through to the 24 hour call centre.

They will be ok about it as they will just get another temp in to replace you but the earlier you let them know the better really.

Hope you're feeling better soon x

Then use your initiative. Call the agency and explain, ask them to find someone to replace you so that your boss won't come in and have to do it.

And get off MN and get some more rest! Hope you get well soon.

Don't worry, you've not ruined the rest of your life, things will be different this time next week. Just get well and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts .

KatyMac · 28/09/2008 19:17

Not sure I have initiative
Been asleep again - but agency is closed until Mon @9am apparently

I have decided it is a SEP (Somebody Elses Problem)& I will phone in the am

Well it is certain I can't go in tomorrow

It appears to be flu (as opposed to man flu) - the GP is the only place I am going tomorrow
