holiday entiltlement and maternity leave

I hope someone can help me to clear this up.

I started my maternity leave in Feb last year,my holiday period starts from April so I took my remaining holiday for that period before I started my mat.leave.

Ok,then when I returned to work in September I was told that I hadn't accrued any holiday entitlement while I was on maternity leave and my holiday period had to re-start from the date I returned to work.

Is this right?

No, you accrue holiday as normal during ordinary maternity leave. During additional maternity leave I think it's slightly different. You accrue the legal minimum but may not accrue extra contractual entitlement.
