I'm in shock this whole week. I have a 7 year old and a 9 1/2 month old baby and I just found out I am pregnant again. I'm pretty freaked as my pregnancies and labours are horrendous. I'm hoping this one won't be so bad - BUT, I am currently covering someone else's maternity leave (!) and am on a fixed term contract until either January or April 09 depending whether she takes the full year or not. Where do I stand with maternity pay and entitlement, given, that by the time the baby is due in March, I would in theory, be leaving anyway?? Nightmare. Also, as I started 2 months ago, I was, for that period paid by a recruitment co. until all my references etc were through (the company I work for are very thorough!) so technically, I didn't start my contract with them until Monday just gone. I think that means I won't have been 'with them' for 26 weeks before the 15 week before my due date. I hope this makes sense, and I hope someone can help.Sorry it's so long. This is what I get for my husband enjoying himself too much.....

You'll get maternity allowance I'd have thought. See here:

Con gratulations!

Thanks for that, have had a look and at least I can get MA. Hopefully work will take pity on me and pull something out the bag. But I'm not holding my breath....;-)
