He has been with this company 2 weeks short of a year. He ahs been given 2 weeks notice. Doe he have any rights to a pay off or anything similar? I am fuming. Also he has a weeks holiday entitlement left, do they have to pay him a weeks wage for that or is it a case of 'tough luck u should of took it while you could'?

If he's been made redundant he has no entitlement to any redundancy pay this early in his employment, no.

If he has a week holiday left they must either let him take it during the 2 weeks notice or pay it him in lieu. Are they saying they won't?

In lieu means in place of, or instead of - so he must either be allowed to take his holiday or they must pay him instead of it with his final paycheck.
