I've been in my job for 7 years and because of the person my boss if, to me it's been a dead end job, he likes the pretty girls so I've just had to make do with what I was given.

I do enjoy my job but decided a career change 2 years ago but stayed 12 hours in this job to keep money coming in whilst I re-trained.

In April they offered me a new role for more money and said I could do it full time or part time around my new career.

I opted for the part time as it was a waste of my training otherwise.

I now feel really stupid because although I got my payrise I have nothing in writing, and the new company structure has been posted and I'm still listed under my old position and am all confused

I sent an e-mail to my boss today asking if he was available for a chat on my next day in and his reply was just "probably"

I feel so underappreciated :/

they should be able to tel you whether the pay itself is tantermount to a contract.

best to go in meeting with boss and say " well i spoke to ACAS...." he might very well shit his self

Technically, you don't really need a contract, as custardo said, the pay and the job that you do is evident enough. In any employment tribunal, an employer will get a slap on the wrist for not giving an employee a contract but they can manage well without it. The tribunals look at the pay, type of work etc instead. I wouldn't worry if you are listed under your old position as you are recieving the pay for your new post. I would advise them that employment tribunals do fine companies for not giving their employees contracts of employment though.

I still have my old contract so I'm aware of what I'm obligated to do and what they're obligated to do.

I just feel angry ...and I know it sounds petty, I'm sick of just being the glorified office junior.

Titles mightn't matter to some people but I was really excited when I might be getting a better title

The old contract won't be vaild as you have re-negotiated it's content (hours, pay, responsibilities). Have a chat with them though.

juneybean are you doing the new job or your old job? You've had the pay rise to reflect your new responsibilities but is that what you are doing?

If you are doing the new job, have had your pay rise to reflect it and the only problem is your job title hasn't changed on the structure, it could be an oversight, and I think it's reasonable to check that with your boss before you start threatening him with ACAS or anything like that.

Ask the question about the job title and ask for written confirmation of the changes and see how happy you are with the answer you get, then take it from there. Tell him you don't feel appreciated and give him the chance to put that right.
