Returning to work in a secondary school - fed up .... need help

Hi - Quick summary although there are a number of issues. I was a manager at a secondary school full-time (term-time) last year and had had enough of the place so applied for part-time working - 2 days per week from September 08. I then got pregnant and had a rough pregnancy and baby was born in March. I went in last week to discuss my role when i go back in Sept as it was suggested that some of the lesser admin work that has been done by someone else remains where it is so i can do some other stuff in addition to what i was doing before. I asked for an upgrade as i felt it was warranted... was told no but 'we'll see how it goes..'

I go into day for another KIT day and find out that about half the staff has been upgraded - quite wrongly in many cases in my opinion (I deal with personnel) anyway - i feel like since i haven't been there to stick up for myself ( there's no review system in place or anything - this is what i have been trying to implement for a year) that i've missed out. This time last year the head's PA was two grades below me which is quite a hike and now she will be on the same from Sept.

I hve been trying to bring the structure around to concentrating on roles and not people but feel that it has gone too far now and I need my role to be balanced within the pay structure such as it is...

Anyway - i know it is hard without all the other facts but do you think that i should officially complain about my grade compared with others - as well as in its own right.

I've waffled too much now but feel really angry and like I've been screwed around.

thanks for any thoughts!!

xxxxx
