I’ve got a fifth and final stage interview for a COO role in London on Wednesday and it’s going to be 38c, arghh. Help. A wardrobe full of clothes but nothing seems quite right. Obviously need to look relatively smart
and not like I’ve come off the back of running a marathon when I get there. Got time to order a new outfit - give me your best suggestions. Fwiw early stage ‘in person’ interviewer wore fairly informal attire but this is with the CEO.

We have just stayed at the Ibis Canning Town, its right opposite the tube, and when we got on the Jubilee Line this morning at about 8am it wasn't too hot. They also have a luggage storage room

As you are at COO level, perhaps a hotel room rather than Costa toilets?

Rua shirt dress, love this colourway -

I think they may do sleeveless versions of the same dress too.

Will your journey involve the tube? Get a neck fan/hand held fan and consider changing outfits somewhere near the interview venue! Take wet wipes and deodorant!

Good luck

Its Jersey,he'll ve sweltering, I've got a few of their jersey dresses and I cannot wear tgrm in the summer months.

Get one of those rechargable fans from Amazon (£15) to make sure you’re not all red and sweaty! Also arrive super early to cool down somewhere near the office

Sorry not really wardrobe advice 😂

What's the nature of the company?

Pearlstillsinging · 22/06/2026 18:50

I would find a Hobbs outfit in a colour that suits you, definitely not a busy pattern and book a hotel room close to the interview venue, then you won't be carrying comfortable shoes or anything else unnecessary when you arrive.
I like lace jackets over sleeveless dresses/tops to look business like while staying cool and have built up a collection in different colours but I don't know that they are fashionable enough to be available currently.

Go up extra early. Trains seem likely to be delayed or on reduced speed due to the heat. Go up in whatever on top (loose, cool etc) bottoms that you plan on wearing. And then change and do make up before the interview. Pret is usually a good shout.

Or a smart tailored sleeveless midi dress and add a cropped or 3/4 sleeved blazer before going in.

I was going to suggest the same. Take a freshly ironed, unsweaty outfit on a coat-hanger, some deodorant, and change close by into something that will be fine in air condtioning

I'm a CEO/COO and I wear autograph silk & wool trousers, a silk sleeveless blouse and a linen jacket. Good jewellery and bag.
I've just ordered the green linen shirt dress from Jigsaw as it's my favourite colour. Due tomorrow so I'll let you know.
Fresh wipes are the best body towels. You can order a small pack.

Given it is a high stakes interview for a senior role, maybe book into a nearby hotel with air con for the night before. You will arrive well rested and looking polished.

I think this is what I'd do if possible

A cotton shirt dress?
This sort of thing, in a colour which suits you.

Give it a really good iron before you leave.

Not linen, it will crease and look rubbish.

The female number 10 team had dresses like this on today.

BlueFahrenheit · 22/06/2026 19:54

Well, the trains are most likely going to be disrupted. I'd book a hotel.
