3rd party background checks - previous employer/company was acquired. What proof can I give?

Typical me fretting about everything... I have been offered a job with a central HR function. They will be running background checks. I've not changed employer for the past 4 years but 5 years ago, I worked for a company that's now been acquired by/merged with another company. My ex-colleagues no longer work there. Wondering what proof will the company need for this job? As I believe they'll want to go back 5 years. Silly me doesn't keep payslips but I do have bank statements, offer letter, P45, e-mail comms of start date - will all this suffice?

I can also ask ex-colleagues for a reference on Linkedin? I feel awkward doing this though 🙃

I was in a similar situation but in a different field. I was told by potential company they can request pay history direct from hmrc to verify you worked for thr company stated.

I just had to give details of the company and employment dates, the company I was joining verified with HMRC that the info I had given was correct. I was then able to use 1 reference from my most latest employer and a character reference from a different colleague in that same job for referencing purposes and all went through fine.

Thanks that all makes sense. I managed to source my history through HMRC. Didn’t know that was possible!

It seems my screening application is now stuck on that job 😤 so annoying. I’ve given the company HMRC history and it’s still not moving forward

I hope it gets moving soon OP.

I had to give 5 year paye details to an employee once for this.

It will be fine. Who’s doing the screening? Ig it’s HireRight they’re famous for being slow.
