Moving from school business management into private sector finance roles

I work as a School Business Manager and im likely facing redundancy in September. I am quite glad that I will be going as the past year has been awful due to poor decisions higher up.

I really enjoy the finance side of being an sbm, im part AAT qualified and would like to find a job purely in finance inthe private sector. Chat Gpt is recommending I look for jobs such as finance officer or management accountant. Im just a bit worried how transferable my finance skills and knowledge would be moving from educational finance to the private sector?

ive registered with an agency and I interviewed for a senior position which the agency said i would be a good fit for - didn’t get that but the company apparently really like me and potentially had another role i would be a better fit for. Im so worried that even if I manage to land a job, that I will struggle and be expected to know what im doing early on

has anyone else successfully transitioned from an Sbm to private sector finance ? Or any advice for me on what I should look at applying for

Perhaps get some support around that as you step into your new role

You’re being made redundant won’t have a job so what’s the worse that could happen? Take that leap
