How do I resolve this issue

snapD · 19/06/2008 21:28

I run a company
I employ 7 staff (all P/T)
It breaks even (no profit for me)
It provides a community service
Lots of people would be upset if it closed

Should I
a) Close it
b) Sack/make redundant half the staff & carry on
c) Go out & get a job that will provide my family & I with an income & let the business toddle on

I am a bit confused atm

Hi

I would go for C. If you had an income and could still keep the business running, this would benefit you all.

Hope this helps.

It depends if it is something that will grow in the future. And if you can work alongside it and develop it that that would be ideal.

Many people find this kind if thing satisfying. Personal I work to live.

Hope you find a solution that suits you.

Could all staff cut there hours by a few rather than lose anyone?

It's very tricky isn't it

I'm really not sure what to do

Not sure I can advise without knowing more tbh. What do you get out of the business atm? No money so I am guessing a sense of satisfaction? Do you need to earn to feed your DC? If so then you need to go for C asap.

I made some money to start with, but as we grew & needed more staff to provide cover I was able to take less money. Now I am the emergency cover & I don't really work - which is a shame as I'd like to. I don't think it will grow.

c would enable us to live more easily but needs a lot of willpower and strenght to walk away.

I am now working on c - getting a new job
