Am I entitled to NHS payslips during unpaid maternity leave?

I am wondering if anyone knows the rules/law around issuing payslips.
I am at the end of my NHS maternity leave and have reached the point where I am not earning any money at all.
I have therefore not been issued a payslip- my NHS employer said this is standard when not being paid any money. However I am also applying for a mortgage and need 3x payslips to demonstrate employment.

Google seems to be telling me that I am entitled to a payslip, even if no money is paid?

Could anyone advise the rules around issuing of payslips?

Thanks

Amy

Medical HR Adviser here - never heard of someone not getting payslips during maternity! Are you signed up to My ESR? If so you should be able to get copies of them on there.

Her maternity pay has ended...

Yes you definitely should be. Part of my job is payroll. All employees, currently being paid or not, must receive a payslip.

Doesn't matter if it's ended - she should still get a payslip, it will just show unpaid maternity leave on there. Same as if someone takes an extended period of unpaid leave - they still get a payslip

Have you checked my ESR? All nhs trusts use it, so should be on there.

Agreed :)

Yes, there should be some tax returned to you

Mine has ended but still get payslips

You should get your normal employer pension contributions so the system should still generate a payslip. As it is the beginning of the tax year there might not be any tax refund.

I've just finished maternity leave. I had all payslips including the 3 months unpaid.

Thanks all! I am on ESR and that’s what I checked regarding my payslip, there’s not one for March on there. I have chased them and payroll continue to reiterate that I don’t get a payslip if no pay is issued. Confused about how I challenge this if I’m entitled to this as they won’t budge!?

I agree with a pp you should be getting a payslip. I wonder if it’s because April is the start of the tax year they have either suspended you or made you a leaver on the payroll system.

I know this may seem OTT but raise a grievance with your HRD. You can be polite and reasonable but by making it a grievance there is a formal process with timelines for response. Make it clear it’s a procedural/technical issue not against a person I.e. I understand the payroll system is unable to provide me with a payslip showing my pension payments etc.

Could you ask the payroll department to write the lender a letter and you will have a p60 end of April which you could potentially use.
