Would you declare you had ADHD on a job application for an NHS role (hospital admin)?

Just been diagnosed, so this is all new to me. Thinking of applying for a p/t medical typist/administrator role in my local hospital, and not sure whether I'd be better of saying nothing?

Anyone got any advice please?

I have ADHD and no I would not declare it on any job application or even once in the role tbh. It's up to me to manage my time and tasks effectively at work.

No, it’s not relevant to the job application. Just like you wouldn’t tell a future employer about your incontinence issues or migraines either.

Not until after I had the offer, unless I really had to.

Would it benefit you in anyway to tell them? It's considered a disability so certainly relevant to your application, but it's a choice whether to declare it or not. Will it get you straight to interview? Interview questions in advance? Extra time for any interview tests? Job accommodations?
If yes then I would tell them.

No

Technically I’m disabled on two grounds right now. I think the box is ‘do you consider yourself disabled’ when you apply for a role and I say no or prefer not to say. I flagged for OH review with some of the issues and was transparent with them. They wanted to write a report with a recommendation to my new organisation on the basis that I will need surgery in the near future and OH wanted to ensure they knew and supported me appropriately. I said I wouldn’t need any reasonable adjustments as the work pattern I’ve agreed and the fact it’s mostly from home means I should be able to manage OK.

My other condition came up and OH said it sounded like I knew how to manage it well and they didn’t see the need to make my employer aware of that one, as it shouldn’t have any real impact.

If you need something from them because of the ADHD then you’ll have to mention it. Do you consider yourself disabled because of it is probably key. Lots of people with invisible disabilities don’t feel they are if it can be managed well, and prefer not to disclose.

I’ve declared it in my recent job as it involves driving company vehicles and I’m on medication, and in a previous job that was subject to drug testing. I probably wouldn’t declare it otherwise.

Thank you. I struggle with verbal instructions at times, especially when nervous, so would prefer any tasks to be written, too. I can get anxious before an interview (totally normal I know) so having most of the questions in advance would be very helpful.

Other than that, I'm not sure I'd need to tell them tbh. Just curious as to what others do/would do.

I'm on a 10 month waiting list for titration for meds, so not currently medicated.

I only told my company as I had been there decades before I got my adult diagnosis and we are more friends than anything but if I had to leave and start afresh somewhere else I would not disclose it no. I am medicated just to add.
