TA planning on giving notice..can I change the end date, after I have given the original notice?

Hope this is the right place!

I am a TA. My contract states that I have to give four weeks notice. I have decided I don't want to follow the child I am a TA for into the next year. I would like to give notice soon with an end date for August which I believe I can do. I want to do this so that the school has time to recruit a one to one for September.

My question is... if I give formal notice in this way and it then becomes untenable to continue working in the school, can I change my end date?

Thanks for your help

Not usually. They would have to agree to it.

I would not give 4 weeks' notice this early, however kindly you feel towards your school.

Mid - end of June (with an end Aug date cited) would be fine and also if you decide to leave earlier you can then give the required 4 weeks and leave (foregoing the summer pay).
