That's how it works sometimes. DH and I have had to do that time and again.
Sorry, but ever heard the saying that it's much easier to get another job once you have one?
Well, it's true.
Right now, DH is trying out for other jobs, but he gets interviews because he's working, he's out there - despite his learning disabilities.
People want to see recent work experience. Hell, even now when you go to college, having work experience alongside it is a huge plus.
Even if you can volunteer somewhere during school hours, ANYTHING, for a few months, it could make all the difference as that will give you a recent reference to vouch for you.
Seriously, look to volunteering if you need a break.
If anything, it's a confidence booster.
