Employment rights bill: pay transparency in job adverts

Has anyone seen this? It’s passed me by but saw it being discussed on social media, if I read it correctly it sounds like employers will have to advertise pay ranges for roles now? (Not sure of the specific rules, if it only applies to certain sectors etc) but this is something I would very much welcome. Although not advertising the salary has usually been a good indicator of an employer I wouldn’t want to work for!

No, this is not correct. You may be thinking of the Pay Transparency Directive which will only apply in the EU.

Joeli Brealey has posted about it, I did struggle to find it stated anywhere else, but in her reel explaining all the things the Bill covers she said “employers will have to include salary ranges in job adverts” (photo 7 of the reel she did yesterday).

Although her focus seems to be parental rights so not sure if it’s something more specific like maternity/paternity cover having salaries included?

The bit about pay ranges is definitely not in the Bill.

She’s gone back and corrected it 🙄 (that’s why you don’t get your news from Instagram folks!) the topic has been raised by government though apparently.
