Possibly screwed over by AI

In the interests of time and to avoid errors, I wanted to reply as quickly and smoothly to an interview request by email from a recruiter who wanted to move to the next step. So I let my AI app formulate a quick reply. Only after sending, I noticed AI had added a telltale 'signature' to the bottom.

" Thank you for reaching out. Thursday, November 20th at 1pm works perfectly—I’ll be available and looking forward to our conversation.

You can reach me at (XXX) XXX XXXX.

Best regards,

Would you like a slightly more casual or more formal version as well? You can reach me at 2XX XXX XXXX

"

Am I screwed? AI suggested a followup to tell her to disregard the last email BUT that would just draw more attention to it. I am so embarassed. Aren't recruiters trained to look for details? Is this over?

Sorry, but it is a very bad first impression and I’d definitely out yiu in the ‘no’ pile. If you are careless at this stage, the chances are thst yiu are careless overall. Maybe you are tbe exception, and this us just since in a lifetime error, but I’m not taking a risk on you.

As a hiring manager, I’d notice and I’d eliminate you from there on if I could. I might go ahead with the interview, since I’d offered it, if I was short of candidates and had time to waste. Accepting an offer of an interview is so simple, that I’d be very suspicious of anyone who used AI to formulate a reply.

Laziness screwed you. If it was such a casual reply why did you use AI?

I don't think I'd hire someone who can't reply to an invite on their own or even proof read it.

You're screwed if you couldn't even be arsed to write 2 lines yourself without ai then id certainly not be employing you , if that's too much hard work what else can't you be bothered to do or what corners would you cut because you're lazy !

I didnt NEED it. I chose to because I was being lazy. 🤣

But on the other hand if someone is so nitpicky and shallow that they are looking so deeply into what is essentially nothing more than a really informal and quick confirmation email, then im not sure I'd want the job anyway. Isn't it?

If you're too lazy to write a 2 line email, perhaps your lack of effort will come across and they won't want you for the job. And it's not being nitpicky and shallow, it's being professional.

I wouldn't take the application forward after seeing that. It's not just lazy and careless but also shows a lack of confidence in your own ability to communicate.
