Craft Classes

I hope you dont mind me asking a few questions on here but I am pondering a business idea and thought I would strike out and ask some questions to see if I am being silly or if it could work.

If someone was running craft classes for pre schoolers in your area would you go? 0-4

Different crafts each week, aprons provided, moms/dads stay and help but tea and coffee available. NO mess for moms/dad to tidy up. Classes last for hour and a half with all materials provided.

How much would you pay per session?

Would you pay over the course of a term?

The possibility of classes with a bit for older children in the holidays?

Sounds like fun - would pay between £2-£4 per child maybe £5 for 2 siblings.

Yes I would.

We went to one called Messy Monsters or something. Would pay about £3 for something like that.

Sand play
Paints
Craft and sticky stuff
Decorating biscuits
Playdough

what often puts me off is paying for a term in advance but I realise that you could make a loss if everyone didnt turn up on a particular day.

Juice and a healthy snack was included too and parents could pay 30p for tea and coffee.

We loved it.

Sounds good. I'd pay £3-£5. Love the idea of not clearing up. Hour and half is a long time to keep little ones interested though. Think you'd need some physical activities too, or cut it down to an hour-long session, with a specific project each time. Also bear in mind that paint, glitter & glue need time to dry.

At our craft classes we have craft for 20-30 minutes then snack and then singing whilst the crafts dry

I used to go to something like this with DS1 when I lived in Essex. It was about 5 yrs ago and cost about £4 per session I think, paid once a term.

They started off with some music and a song, usually related to the theme of what they were doing. Sometimes the activities involved fine motor skills, cutting sticking drawing and sometimes gross motor stuff like making painty foot prints. Occasionally we did some cooking and then decorated the cakes or they used some sort of clay which was baked before the next session and then painted. It was a really good mix of stuff.

At the end we all helped tidy up a bit although the lady running it washed up the brushes and did the dirty work. We had another song (helped give time for paint etc to dry a bit). It lasted about 1.5 hours.

Half way through we had drinks and biscuits as well.

The youngest children at the group were 21 months and for what they were required to do I think this was young enough.

I run a toddler group and provide a craft every week and realistically children less than 21 months just aren't interested - their mums' do it whilst they crawl under the table or eat crayons.

Holiday courses might be good too. Most holiday stuff seems directed at sports round here so it would be a good thing to try out.
