Isn't it funny how people do things differently

I employ several people

earlier this year one just left - gave me 4 weeks notice and went. During those 4 weeks everything was a nightmare - lots of pressure was put on me - lots of upset, eventually I was glad she went.

Just this last week - one came to me & said I want more money & more hours - I know you can't help, I'm going to apply for other jobs. We sat down together & discussed it, I helped her with her CV and interviews, gave her time off. She got the job and is leaving (4 weeks notice)

everything is fine - no bad feeling no hassle

Why couldn't the other person have done this?

i think some people act horribly in the hope that they'll get some garden leave before starting new jobs.

Silly isn't it - how daft

My current 'leavee' is doing it beautifully and I'm so proud of her

people can be very weird though - certainly some of the people i manage at the moment.

I agree

Though I seem to have a lovely bunch atm losing one has really changed the group dynamic

I must do all of their Belbins

one person can make such a difference. i job-share and (to blow my own trunpet) it was commented to me that it's like working in a morgue the days my job-sharer is in the office (hopefully a bit more lively the days i'm in).

i hate having to replace good staff though, it's difficult to know whether someone's good performance at interview will actualy translate into day to day work and whether they'll get on with everyone else.

I agree - but the person who is leaving can be replaced by 2 existing member of staff increasing their hours just a bit

So I feel quite relieved tbh no more recruiting (atm at least)

Plus I had a boost at the weekend(I always worry about my performance as a manager) the 2 little girls I had as work experience want to come back in the holidays (for free ) - & I thought I was really hard on them
