I don't know what you're supposed to do when ill any more

I've got some sort of bug. I don't feel awful, I could do an adequate job, but I am clearly full of germs.

Wfh today (as planned) but I have a series of meetings tomorrow, which involve travel and sitting in various rooms with lots of different people.

I am key to the meetings. Some would likely be cancelled if I'm not there.

Before Covid I'd have definitely gone to work. I imagine my boss would think it a poor show if I say I'm feeling bit off colour I'm not going, but I also know there are people in the meetings who would prefer not to catch anything and that people are much more vocal about that than they used to be.

Oh, and I'm still on probation in this job.

Give the attendees the option of whether you attend remotely or whether they do.

Poor you having to make decisions. It's obviously been a while since you've been on probation in a new job.

Personally I'd like the knowledge and the option to be around someone who's ill or not.

That poster was damn right! This would be viewed as a little 🤔 if someone put the onus on attendees to make the OP’s decision for her

Well I have just been reading the Covid thread on here with a lot of comments on how awful the current strain is for a lot of people. I would be extremely unimpressed if someone obviously ill came to a meeting and infected others when it is perfectly possible to carry out meetings remotely.

’warning’ people attending about germs and floating the idea of joining remotely or cancelling isn’t the usual etiquette in most organisations and could likely piss off some of the people going and / or OP’s boss.

I think I’d dose myself up on medication and go.
