they love to make a drama
we have new management
we have a team meeting coming up
there is a particular person who creates tension by saying things like, they are going through our job descriptions
so what?
i can't stand it.
how do you cope with these types of colleagues?

But op says it’s not just her
it is multiple colleagues
plus new management

One person “gathered” others around them, so when they left, those in cahoots came out of their shells and are actually quite upbeat and cheerful souls it seems.

i sympathise. There are a couple of colleagues I have who nitpick and complain about everything our band 7 team lead (nhs) does. It’s so bloody wearing as I don’t want to fall out with them. They are often right that things aren’t done perfectly but the band 7’s workload is horrendous and they just don’t care that she’s human too.

Pop some earbuds in and go about your day. No need to engage

Summerartwitch · 10/07/2025 09:04

I think it is completely normal for people to be concerned and discuss their concerns if you are under new management.

That can often mean a restructure and some redundancies.

Very different from being constantly negative about a job.

Redundancy unlikely

Reasonable. We had a new manager who decided half the people in the group were not right for their roles (this manager didn’t have a clue) and has been progressively laying everyone off and demoting the type of work staff were doing. God knows how the dept survived before she came! I’ve left since and I hear she’s making a right dogs ear of it!

How pathetic that so easily led and swayed

So a discussion regarding job descriptions with new management seems…. Sensible?

putitovertherefornow · 10/07/2025 17:21

Just don't listen to the doom-mongers or the office gossips and carry on with your work as usual.

Caulibroc · 11/07/2025 14:17

Bit confused by this

so a meeting with new management

a colleague of the OP’s, not her senior, said she would check all job descriptions.

and the new management responded with….. what?

what other negative stuff for this person do? And you mention gossip… is this about you?
