Low key way to mark a birthday ( big decade) if not for any others ?

Maybe I'm overthinking this. Not sure why it's on my mind although this member of staff has been doing some extra work for me lately and we've got a little bit closer I guess. I have never marked birthdays for the staff who work for me other than by organising their birthday card. One lady has a birthday this week- major decade- and a part of me feel I should do something more. Not sure if it's wise as it would set a precedent. I'd need to start doing similar- keep checking the ages - for the others. Any ideas please? Something small as a gift maybe or is the card (biggish one which gives the age), enough?

I think you need to do the same for everyone.

Where I worked, everyone used to put a tenner in at the start of the year and that covered things like a bunch of flowers for zero birthdays, or if someone were bereaved or was diagnosed with a serious illness.

I don't think people mind not having something for a big birthday, but I do think it would cause issues if you got for one person but not others.

The issue is it is starting something.
I did the same and it’s ended up costing me a fortune as I manage 25 staff and there always a special birthday coming up or maternity, or something !
Ive had to stop to be honest.

Thanks @CarpetKnees and @Newyorklady

yes I agree I'd have to be consistent if I do anything new. Maybe I'll leave it. Cheers for the voices of reason :)
