Does anyone know about company car tax?

DH had a company car, until last month. They took it away, and are giving him an allowance to buy a car himself.
Will his tax code change immediatly, or will he have to wait till next tax year? in his May pay slip he is paying tax on the new allowance, but still has the tax code he had when he had the company car.

Either your DH or his employers will need to inform the tax office asap that he is no longer on the company car scheme. There is a special form to fill out and post to them. Then it takes about 4-6 weeks for them to issue a new tax code.
I had a company car until the end of March, sent the form right away, and the new tax code only came a week or so ago.
