My Coworker Is Asking Me If I'll Cry On Her Last Day In The Office?

Well, my answer is no. We sit opposite each other and yes we're the first two in of a morning for an hour or so. I don't have strong connections in the workplace so no way would I cry. The workplace is purely somewhere to get money with no emotion. She said she would cry if I was leaving. She told me two guys downstairs had tears in their eyes when she told them she’s going.I wonder if she is fishing to see if I'm going to miss her? I had to pretend with her that of course I'll shed a tear. She's 33 but going on 13! I think she's attention seeking. She was almost expecting it of me when she first told me she was leaving. Is the attention seeking?

My friend told me to take an onion in with me on her last day 😧

Yes!

Then wordlessly hand it to her and walk away.

Be funny AF.

I am an agency worker and have worked at my place of work for over 3 years. I have lost count of the number of people who have come and gone - generally without me or them knowing they wouldn't be back. Some have been really lovely but that's life - here today, gone tomorrow!

This is an odd post lol. 😂

Well, if she thinks people are crying when they are clearly not then you don't need to worry. She will see a tear whether or not you shed one.

Good grief. Is she on drugs.

Julimia · 05/12/2024 22:05

Does it matter if she is? Just let her get on with it. She'll be gone soon,!

On the flip side, when a co-worker I had become particularly friendly with (inside and outside of work) told me she'd got a new job somewhere else, I congratulated her and then told her I'd miss her, to which I was later accused of not being happy enough for her.

You're right - work is somewhere to make money with no emotion, and I learnt that the slightly hard way in that case...

I'd just say no.
No need for an explanation.
Very weird of her to expect it really sounds like she has a big ego.

Why is every letter of your thread title capitalised?

I did wonder whether it was a Smiths b-side I’d somehow overlooked.
