I've worked at a certain place now for 14 months, during that time I have bent over backwards to help them, working etc, covering hours when no-one on etc.
Line manager asked for a word last week and he has asked that I change my hours AGAIN. This will be about 8 times since I started there. At present I have to start at 8.30 (which is a struggle with getting dd's to school etc)
Next week, in his wisdom has said that he wants me to work from 8 (for 3 hours) every day, I've told him that this gives me great problems as breakfast club doesn't start until 8.10 and we have no family, friends or neighbours who can help as they work. He did initially suggest that I work till 4.30, I told him in no uncertain terms that it was impossible as there is no-one to have the children until I get home.
I've just had a message from my colleague (who started the same day and is having the same problems) that he is going to put me on 4.30 finish Weds, Thurs and 4pm on Friday and if I can't do it he is going to have have to speak to HR with regards to us.
What can I do.
- He knows I have problems with 8am start
- He knows I can't work till 4.30
- I now have to pay extra per week to put the kids in breakfast club
When I first started my hours were perfect but the longer i've been there the worse and worse they have got.
Should I get in touch with the union to see what they say?
