It depends on what your outgoings are, especially housing. If you're renting a room in a shared house, budget £1k per month for rent. Plus bills, travel, social fund, holidays, etc. I used to live comfortably on a £40k salary but those days are long gone.

What a ridiculous question!
A good salary is one that you are happy with. A lot of it depends on your experience and what sector. Doesn't depend on your marital status whatsoever

It depends, I used to get by on quite a low take home by living in a house share, walking/bus everywhere and so on. But I wouldn't have wanted to live like that forever.

I'd say to afford the standard of living I'd want now (flat to myself, enough for socialising and holidays) I'd probably want absolute minimum £50k, preferably £60k.
