Have you ever had a professional crush?

ie, there is someone in your profession who you really admire who does their job really well and you adore them so much it ends up feeling like a crush?

I was at a conference yesterday and there was someone there who is my total hero, his talk was so good I ended up doodling little hearts all over my conference pack.

I am happily married, AFAIK so is he, I have not the slightest iota of an intention of doing anything about it, he isn't even that attractive, but OMG the way he gets straight to the heart of policy issues in our sector - phwooarr.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Not quite, but I know what you mean. I have had one illicit relationship with someone at work and one major crush, not because of being good at their job but I definitely went phwooaarr when they were being amazing at what they do, it's very attractive.

If I thought there was any chance of actually having an affair I would run a mile, but because there isn't the whole thing feels quite life-enhancing, it's funny. I suppose it's nice admiring attractiveness in any sense.

Oh yep, totally understand it. There is a senior manager at my place of employment and although he is old enough to be my father and has a lovely wife who he talks about often to me, the power he has within the business and how well he performs is job is phwoarsome!
