Okay I think I’m going to quit the long term supply role. Is it okay to email the agency in October half term and say I won’t be returning and these are the reasons? Can I not give notice? I’m a bit worried. I feel like I’m letting everyone down?

I want to give notice, but I don’t at the same time.

It will be so awkward with the people I work with and the parents. They will ask questions like why am I leaving now? Because I feel like I’m letting everyone down.

If anyone wants more information, it’s in my previous post. It’s a horrible place to work.

Of course you can do that. Perhaps do it straight after school on Friday so they’ve got maximim time to find someone else. That’s the beauty of supply, that if you’re not enjoying it you can stop. Email the agency on Friday at 4.30 and then enhoy your half term. They will cope like they would if you were sick. Good luck!

One of the benefits of being on supply is that you can quit any post at any time. If you find the school to be a horrible place to work, then stop going there. Life’s too short. Also, you’re not letting anyone down, they’ll get another supply to take your post easily enough.
