Best way to explain to potential employers why I have left my job

I left my job at the beginning of this month at the supermarket. Left because my MH was getting to the point I couldn’t cope anymore. It’s due to the bully store manager. Plus I had annual leave booked for a foreign holiday and that’s what i needed. Couldn’t face going back to that rot hole.

I know I can’t say MH issues as employers think don’t employ this candidate if they have MH issues.

Don't mention your MH issues at this stage, that's another conversation for elsewhere.

Try "I'd already felt ready to move on and as I'd booked a foreign holiday anyway, it seemed the right time to go".

Then turn it to a positive: "It means now I can fully concentrate on searching for a new role and I'll be able to offer immediate availability as I've already worked my notice".

Or some variation on that. Good luck.

Having been a valued member of the workforce for X amount of years I have been lucky to take a few months out to travel and spend time with family before embarking on a new career path.

How long were you there for? Just say you were ready for a change if you were there for 2 years plus, or that you didn't think the role was the best fit for you if you were there for a short time.

Unless your holiday was particularly exotic don't say you went travelling - they might ask you questions and if you really just spent a couple of weeks on a beach in Spain you're going to sound lame 😀

'I wasn't enjoying the company environment. I had a holiday booked, and I felt it was a natural breakpoint to look for something new.

Which is completely honest.
