Work trip 11 weeks pregnant - what’s insurance cover like normally for international travel?

I have an important work trip coming up and I will be 11 weeks pregnant. It’s an international trip to the US. The only thing that worries me is what happens if I run into pregnancy-related complications during the trip. Would work travel insurance normally cover this? Or should I take out insurance personally just in case?

I have not yet announced my pregnancy at work as I do not yet feel comfortable doing so.

The only people that can answer that will be your employer or the company that provides their insurance policies.

You need to make them aware of any extra risk. Either that or take out your own insurance, although even then you will need to make sure it covers you for business trips.

When my DH did a lot of work abroad I added business cover to our annual policy although there was cover through the company. I think you need to tell your employer you are pregnant so they can carry out a risk assessment for international travel and you can check the level of health insurance cover. Otherwise, make sure you have a good level of business cover and declare your pregnancy and any health conditions.

You need to tell work, or make an excuse not to travel.
