Right - I need a breathtaking 'reason for leaving my current job' for an application form...........

It's a job which is similar to the one I already do, but which has a better salary and wouldn't mean an 140 mile round commute (please god, let me get this job....) PLUS I really cannot bear my current manager.

My mind has gone blank for the 'reason you are leaving..' question - been typing and deleting for the last 15 mins...something to do with career development or is that too cliched?

can anyone come up with anything snappy?

(keep it clean pls girls!)

career development is fine and say something about the company, as in, you HAD to go for the job because it is so fab?

claricebeansmum · 21/04/2008 16:56

Can you not be honest about the commute? Whilst I have enjoyed my job I am now looking for something closer home?

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/04/2008 16:58

Always give a positive reason why you want the new job as your reason for leaving the old, rather than something negative about existing.

Buckets · 21/04/2008 17:34

After X yrs (or months?) commuting 140m round trip, I am looking for something closer to home.
Nobody would hold that against you and it shows your dedication up til now.

Yes, thanks Buckets, that sounds like exactly the kind of thing I should be putting. I've done it for 4 yrs so hopefully that shows i've got commitment.........

i'll also add in something good about the post i'm applying for. Thank you everyone!

finger crossed

Looking for something more challeneging and closer to home so you can commit more time to the work rather than the cpmmute.. etc
