as mothers on maternity leave, I am not , my kids are older, nearly teens, considering coming back to work after maternity leave is over. Considering work from home, or not to go back to work, I always wanted to work form home, and now MLM offer yes or yes, or what do you think about MLM opportunity?

okey it is not only for mothers on maternity leave😊

Absolute waste of time, complete scam. Check out all the bot watch threads on here. No one makes money.

DeliciousApples · 15/08/2024 20:34

Nope. Even Avon is shite these days. Avoid MLMs at all costs. You just end up ripping off friends.

IvetaKor · 15/08/2024 20:34

really? I have met personally people who have MLM as the only income

OP posts:
DeliciousApples · 15/08/2024 20:35

But is that true or are they just telling you that's their only income...

Ohnoshebetterdont · 15/08/2024 20:35

MLMs work similarly to a pyramid scheme. You’re unlikely to make profit at all.

Shortpoet · 15/08/2024 20:41

This story by Elle Beau is a good read about how moms manipulate their reps into buying more.

@Ohnoshebetterdont there is a big difference between MLM and a pyramid scheme. What is a pyramid for you, because, me personally, in my current 9-5 job, feel like at the bottom of pyramid and feel like I have no chance to get on the top of that pyramid😔

A friend works for one - UW energy to be precise. She posts about it a lot on facebook. She's made £28,000 over the last 3 years (apparently), and has said she's one of the top 2% income wise for 'partners'. That really isn't a livable income, and tells you that most earn far less. It would be interesting to know what her hourly rate really is.

IvetaKor · 15/08/2024 20:49

@DeliciousApples market is overfilled by cosmetics products, MLM is not about selling products, it is about team building, support of each other, mindset... Nobody will make money , okey, can make some money, but I am talking about as business opportunity, by selling only the products...

Yes, I believe that they don't need to lie about their income, specially if they want you recruit

DreamW3aver · 15/08/2024 20:51

Your posts are a little difficult to understand but no, dont go anywhere near an MLM

Hummusanddipdip · 15/08/2024 20:52

I have a really good friend who appeared to do really well from an mlm, she did it for 6 months then jacked it all in and sold all the stock she had pre-bought cheaply because it didn't work

DeliciousApples · 15/08/2024 20:54

Even Wikipedia says they are crap pyramid schemes that 99% of people don't make money on and rely on friends to buy the products.

Who wants to do that? You'll just end up skint and friendless.

bryceQ · 15/08/2024 20:55

Nope! Nothing was possess me to do a MLM. They are exploitative and annoying and a tiny tiny percentage end up making any real money. I would use the time to retrain in something else.

Of course they need to lie...the product is not the product....you are the product!
If they tell you the truth about what they actually earn they won't get you on the hook.

Rantypanties · 15/08/2024 20:57

So you want to jack in your job so you can do team building and support? Your posts make no sense….unless you’re trying to underhandedly promote the ‘good’ of an MLM.

Please read the articles posters have linked to together with this one.

If you can't be bothered, or don't have the time to read them, then just read this sentence which features a statistic that probably appears in all of the links:

"the truth is this is an industry where research has found that around 99.6% of all sellers lose money instead of earning it".

Lockdown has spawned a boom in MLM selling schemes - but at what cost?

With the number of people claiming out-of-work benefits more than doubling over the last three months, being offered the chance to earn money on your own terms sounds like an ideal solution.

Ohnoshebetterdont · 15/08/2024 20:59

While an MLM does sell actual products, it is not designed to build you up. You buying products to then try and sell builds the person at the top up, while you stay at the bottom out of pocket and probably annoying everyone you know by pestering them to buy off of you.
You do seem to be deliberately obtuse though so I’m wondering if you’re going to come back and recommend us a company 👀

BobbyBiscuits · 15/08/2024 21:00

Look up Dr Robert Fitzpatrick. Leading MLM specialist.
You will lose money. Do not give any of them a red cent. If they say they are making bank from it they're lying through their teeth.
Do not fall for this utter BS.

IvetaKor · 15/08/2024 20:34

What products were they selling, and what did you buy and how often? How much money did you spend?

DecafDodger · 15/08/2024 21:06

MLM is not about selling products, it is about team building

indeed, it's about lying to other people what a fabulous opportunity it is, so you can benefit from them joining.

historyrepeatz · 15/08/2024 21:08

Yes or yes?
*
Then why ask?
* Seems like you've already made up your mind. Don't pester friends or family to join you or buy products or they will end up trying to avoid you. My twat of an ex sil pestered us to buy overpriced shit we didn't want or need so she could get her promotions, be a girl boss and get on stage with a sash. If we didn't we weren't being good family and supporting her to be her own boss, stay home and make money.

deviantfeline · 15/08/2024 21:10

MLM is not about selling products, it is about team building

And there is the problem. 'Team building' is a euphemism for 'get more people to pay into this scheme so we can rinse them dry and get them to do the same with more victims'. Hence pyramid scheme.

Psychoticbreak · 15/08/2024 21:10

You will lose every one of your friends and family when you get into and scam other people into getting involved in an MLM. MLM is focused on sales and is legal, pyramid is illegal and focused on recruiting.

IvetaKor · 15/08/2024 21:12

@Ohnoshebetterdont don't worry, I HAVE NOT STARTED THIS DISCUSSION to recruit anybody, just reading all posts and thinking if it was good idea...
