AIBU for thinking it’s ick that my potential new boss sent me his IG account?

My potential new boss messaged me a link to a post on his IG account. It was about the Olympics which he recently went to. But nevertheless, there were photos of him on holiday with his top off on the beach, running etc which I find a bit ick.

AIBU in thinking this? Or is this normal for some people.

FYI - I work as a headhunter and this guy is super outgoing and positive so maybe it’s just his way - I did feel like it was a roundabout invitation for me to connect with him on IG (my account is private) which I didn’t.

I’ve had 10 interviews and barely any feedback! Does he want to sound me out before making an offer?

Literally have no idea as this has never happened before…

Any advice/thoughts would be gratefully received!

What was the context? Did he just send you the link out of the blue, or had you already discussed the Olympics and it was a follow-up to that conversation?

Does he possibly have a work account and he sent the wrong one? OR is it just the automated thing where all contacts in his phone get sent an invite? Does he have thousands of followers (in which case maybe he is just completely indiscriminate about who gets sent invites and invites the plumber, the uber driver, the courier, etc)

If you've had that many interviews I think you should ask for an update on the process? Sounds really disorganised to me which would be a red flag

Sounds over familiar no.matter what his usual use of IG

10 interviews?! I think the IG link is the least of the issues!

Bearpawk · 14/08/2024 18:53

10 interviews, fuck that. I'm a recruiter and I know the right 'fit' is important but that's way OTT.
Red flags everywhere.

MN rule No 267.
Trust nobody that gives you an “ick”.
You never know what they might be capable of. Terrible people.

You have had 10 interviews for the same role?

My thoughts are - this is made up bullshit and the OP is not coming back.

Where on this planet would you go back for 10 'interviews' ??- that's totally nuts.

As for the link to him at the Olympics - meh - so what . Why is this icky? He didn't force you to look through his instagram account.
