and I'm terrified

Its a perfect job - hours are brilliant, pay is great, it sounds interesting and is in a field that I have a fair bit of experience in. Its a family friendly company, there's real career progression and I want the job desperatly.

Am dedicating today to my application - what can I do to stand out from the crowd? My fear is that if it is perfect for me it'll be perfect for everybody else.

the only thing that holds you back is fear

you are perfect for this job? then believe in kismet

anyway everyone knows you're odd, so there's no way it'll suit other people too

RubySlippers · 13/04/2008 10:55

sound enthusiastic, show you have done some research on the company ...

outline all your skills - transferable as well as qualifications make YOU perfect for the job

show how you could do the job, but also bring new things to the role (give an example if you can)

odd? I'll be sure to include that in my application.

and yes fear is holding me back - that and an internal candidate.

does it come with a person spec? Do the application in roughly the same order (obv it has to be readable!) - make it easy for them to tick off every point in the list.

And let your enthusiasm show through!

PrincessPeaHead · 13/04/2008 11:11

key thing is to give examples of why you are perfect.
don't just tell them that you are fantastically organised, give them an example of something you did in your previous (current) job which proves you are fantastically organised.

and make sure they can tell that you really want THIS job.

I'm sure you'll be fine!

thanks very much! Yes its does have a person specification - will use that as a guide for my supporting letter.

and after procrastinating over it all day I definitely have to actually put pen to paper tonight as deadline is tomorrow.

aaahhhhhh
