As the post title states I started a new job this year in January. The new job is a step up from my old role but a reduction in hours 30 down from 37.5; so I have kept same money for less hours. I currently work 3 long days per week with compressed hours. I haven’t enjoyed this job from the start it’s completely different than the job I was sold. My commute is currently 60min drive but have now been asked to cover another site approx 90 min commute. I have stuck it out as the job is very easy and could probably do with my eyes shut, and I have really enjoyed only working 3 days a week.
I received a phone call out of the blue this week from my old boss asking if I can return as a locum or they can offer me a permanent role. I haven’t contacted anyone from my old team since I left.
My old job was fairly stressful and hard work but I did enjoy it. It’s also about 30 mins away, so significantly less in fuel. I only left the role as they refused to allow me to reduce my hours or do compressed hours - something I needed due to worsening of long term disability. They have offered to return as a senior with the compressed hours I wanted (but hard no on reduced hours). They have tried a few new employees but non of them have had enough experience to manage in the role and left. The difference in pay between my current senior role and the old job as a senior is about a 10k increase if I accepted the old jobs offer.
Im not sure what to do - I have said I would ring back to my old boss next week once she could come back to me with formal offer in terms of pay and finer details. The significant pay increase could pay for much carer support for myself but a stressful role.
