Working Time Directive - has anyone opted out?

Has anyone who works for a small company been asked to opt out of this? I work for a company with 15 or so people, we regularly work longer than the 48 hours a week but we're not asked to sign an opt out. If you have signed it did you do so on joining the company?

Yes, I think it was in my contract. I work for a small firm too and do up to 12 hours a day.
