Giving It All Up!

Hola! I've just given a permanent job up to be able to spend more time with my family. I will continue to work but will be earning a lot less money. On the whole I am fine with this but every now and again get a little frightened that I've been incredibly stupid and will hate having less spending power! Anyone else out there swapped high paying job for something a bit more family friend and if so how was the transition? Thanks in advance for any words of advice that are sent this way!

God Plus30 I'm in a similar situ. I've been on long term sick leave and will be losing my job - when I don't know cos I havent been told. At the mo Im on half pay, but also have started a business with DH that is taking up much of my time. WOrking for myslef my priority is to be able to spend more time with family and get someone else in to work the hours that don't suit me. it is scary - less money etc, but the less you have the less you need!! It's an adjutment of your attitude too - just but Tescos own brands!! I think before I buy anything whereas b4 I'd have bought really without thinking. Have dh who is really spportive. Think - what;s more important to you - money or memories, quality family time. Good luck

I am a sahm and although I didn't have a very high powered job it was still a shocker. My Dh is great and as I effectively have no money of "my own" so to speak, I have an affliated credit card so it is in his name but I can spend whatever I like on it. This does not mean I go and buy Jimmy Choo and do lunch, I just buy what I think we need.

My Dh actually tells me to go and spend money on myself because I am happy spending on him and our sons but somehow it is different when it comes to me. I almost feel like I have to justify it even though I don't.

Like divedaisy, I just think about it before I spend money. I have never been an impulse buyer anyway.
