anyone any idea in simple terms regarding bank holiday pay.
i do 15 hours a week and get X amount of bank holiday pay and X amount of holiday pay.

but I don't tend to work on mondays.

can i use bank holiday holiday at any other time? or do i lose it?
or do I say the particular week with the bank holiday I am actually working (but obviously not) on that monday?

At our work, We get additional pro rata hours for bank holidays that we don't work. If you usually work a monday, so would get every bank holiday monday off you would end up owing hours. I avoid working Mondays so I don't get forced to take these days off and end up owing hours.

Say I work half the hours of a full time person I would be entitled to half the amount of bank holiday days in the year.

I don't know if this helps you or even makes sense. I don't know if this is usual pratice. You will probably need to speak to employer or CAB may help.

Where I work, Bank holidays are also pro-rated, and we are expected to use that allowance to take off any bank holidays that fall on normal working days. Any excess hours that aren't used (ie if you don't work Mondays), can be taken off as extra holiday hours.

that's what i hoped surr3

I work Thurs and Fridays only. My contract says I get 12 days hols, plus 3 days for bank hols. So depending on how Christmas and NY fall, I can get 2 extra days (as I always get Good Friday). If all the non Monday b/hols fall on my days, I'm supposed to make it up from my 12 days, but they don't enforce this .

Actually I'm sorry, Thats' a really long winded way of saying exactly what surr3 just said.

that's fine.
i appreciate it explained as simply as possible
