Hello to everyone. Recently, I purchased a ticket on American Airlines, however I mistyped my name on the ticket. Has anyone here ever had to change name on american airlines ticket? What is the procedure like, and are there any costs involved? I would be very grateful for any guidance or personal experiences you could provide!

Not sure why this is in the Work section? Anyway, you need to contact the airline either by phone or web chat if they have one. Any charges will depend on a host of factors, including when you bought the ticket, what type it is, what the change is etc.

If you tell them quickly they may waive the fee.

How bad is the typo? Many airlines have an allowable margin of error for them (e.g. BA allows you to be 3 letters out).

Actually this happened to me recently, although the booking was made through work and I don’t know how the mistake occurred. My name was off by one letter.

This was a BA flight booked thru AA.

When I caught it, I rang AA and they corrected it free of charge. However they said it was all fixed and it was not; BA did not allow me to board! They corrected everything at the gate with moments to spare but it was not pleasant.

The moral is that if you have made some kind of cross booking, it may be worth verifying the corrections with all parties.
