Legalities of a notice period?

Hello- I was due to leave an NHS role for a higher paying job. NHS verbally agreed promotion at a midpoint band pay. I worked 6 weeks of my notice period and pulled out of new job and stayed within the NHS. New contract has arrived but they won’t pay me at the rate they verbally agreed (have some messages suggestive of this- but nothing formal). I will be declining the job offer based on this. Do I have to work my notice period again? I would not have revoked my resignation- only due to being verbally advised I would be paid more. Money is really tight right now so feeling a tad screwed! Would happily work a couple of weeks notice but feeling a bit unhappy about working 8 weeks all over again as I need to be somewhere that pays more

Did you formally rescind your notice in writing?
If so then they can restart the clock when you resign again.

But if you did so only orally, then I think you have a strong case that it is continuous.

And you may have a case even if you put it in writing, as it was contingent on a satisfactory job offer which has not been forthcoming. Contact your Union for further advice
