Secured a new job, can I go on sick leave with current job before starting other job? Will new job find out? Are they allowed to access health records (teaching)?

I am leaving my current role lucky enough to have found a new job right after I gave my notice. I can’t do it anymore. I can’t wait to start the new workplace hoping it’s a better place. I don’t know if I should take sick leave right now because I’m stressed every minute of the day can’t even sleep.

Would my new workplace find out if I take the final two weeks of my notice as sick leave?

I guess they would if they haven’t already taken a reference. You would need to self certificate for 7 days then a gp line for the remainder of your notice.

It transfers over in State funded. I've handled staff records and seen the sick leave taken in previous employment on the records, as it's all part of continuous service - a huge advantage for teachers on the whole, but it does mean there's no forgetting to mention periods of absence.
