Wages shows on HMRC but never received any wages in my account

I started working a few weeks ago for this school. Pay day is 24th monthly. The 24th of December is a public holiday and on a weekend so I'm expecting payday would be the Friday before. I checked my HMRC tax account and saw that I was being paid on the 24th. But till date today being the 27th,I have not received any wages in my account. Painful is that I have no money left enough for the new year celebrations and it's my son's tenth birthday on the 2nd. I can't get access to HR or payroll till school resumes after the new year. I have direct debits going out my account by 31st

I was actually a bit concerned yesterday as I also work in a school and this month is where they are doing a changeover with payroll systems. I also checked HMRC and it said I would be paid today - the new system is working as my salary did hit my bank account on time just after midnight and I got a new payslip from the new company. If it’s showing in HMRC it should mean they have received notification you have been paid and have deducted tax accordingly - it could be an issue with the bank processing it - can you contact your bank to see if there is a pending payment?

I would also try to cover the direct debits - all my savings are in ISAs and I realised I would not have easy access to cash if I was not paid - even though I have a lot of savings. During my moments of overthinking yesterday I did think I would put money to cover it by borrowing it or using a credit card to cover it ( luckily it’s not an issue now) because I think it will be worse to let the direct debits bounce.

Again the local authority should also be able to confirm this if you contact payroll if they are open.

Thanks but I can't hold of anyone till school resumes as they all on holiday

Not all school roles / LA depts close for the whole Christmas break. Many offices work the days in between Christmas and New year.

Try calling various people / offices.

Have you got a credit card that you could use or
someone you could ask for a loan until your pay is sorted? Hopefully your pay will be sorted out soon.
