I work 16 hrs a week p/t @£7k a year. bh does 35hrs week £25k a year. we dont need childcare as i do nights. I get family allowance and child benefit. Do you only get wftc if you use childcare, or only if lowere wages. I just want to know if its worth my while working???

On a £25k you wont qualify for WTC regardless of hours.

If you have no childcare costs anyway, it must be worth you working as you're bringing home another wage.

You might get child tax credit but you won't get working family tax credit - that's for lower earners than you.

This will tell you more.

When i phoned the tax credit helpline, i was told we were entitled to £112 a week, DP only earnt 7K in the last tax year. I was under the understanding that if you work over 16 hours a week and earn less than 58K you were entitled to something, according to how much you earn. I'm worried now

Lucyellensmum, after a set wage you only get basic tac credits of £42 a month - somewhere between £18k and £58k its the same £42 entitlement. May have gone up a little from the £18k but not much.

maybe i need to phone them, i had hung my hopes in the £112 a week, i was being niave wasn't i?

Depends on your joint earnings this tax year as they get renewed in April. Are they more than 7k this time? If so, yes your tax credits may drop.

i just rung the tax credit office and they have no record of my claim Checked on eligibility and it was as i thought. Dont have a clue what he earnt this year, probably less
