Going on maternity leave after a short period with employer

My SIL's baby is due in August - she only started her new job a couple of weeks ago and hasn't yet told her employer she's pregnant hmm. Am I right that the rules have changed and the 26 week rule thingy no longer applies - i.e. she will get SMP and she has the right to return to the same job that she leaves? Or is that something that used to be the case but isn't any more? I looked on various websites but got a bit confused blush

latchmere the rule has gone when it comes to getting full maternity leave and rights to return, but it is still there when it comes to SMP. To get SMP she needs to be employed by the same employer for 26 weeks leading into the week she is 25 wks pg.

some stuff here
