sickness benefit

does anyone know anything about entitlement to this? my dad suffered from meningitis at the beginning of January. he nearly died but thankfully is ok. but he has not been able to work (he has his own business) since then and it is unclear when he can return. he has worked full time and paid tax etc since he was 16 (now 63). any ideas on what he is entitled to? i cant make any sense of government websites on this matter

According to my mum (who deals with disabilities at the Jobcentre) your dad should be able to claim Incapacity Benefit. He needs to have paid Class 2 National Insurance to do so. The number should be on the jobcentreplus site.
