NHS June payslip

Hello everyone, Could anyone that has already had their payslip for June tell me if the amount of tax on our pay with the lump sum this month is as bad as social media is saying? I was looking forward to payday this month, now I’m a little worried.

@WAC1 that such bad luck.

I was pissed off as the blurb suggested my band would get 3.5k and I got less than 2-

gingercat02 · 27/06/2023 18:55

If you voted, yes, this is exactly what you voted for, and if you didn't vote, you should have!
It's a shot pay offer as was the previous one. We all need to stop rolling over and stand the fuck up for ourselves! 😡🤬

This is why I voted no. I worked out my deductions first. The one off payments were not pensionable but always taxable. I was deducted slightly more than my normal take home wage!

Trouble is the unions never really understand what they are getting people to vote yes on. Time and time again they have the wool pulled over their eyes by the government. Exactly the same happened with the 3 year pay deal. Unions are useless tbh.

They had the option to spread the payment up to March 24.

I had a lot taken out but that’s to be expected.

A few colleagues were moaning today, the same ones that either voted no or aren’t in a union so didn’t vote at all. I did my ‘kind, caring, compassionate while inwardly losing it’ face a lot today.

For those in HR/payroll I really hope that people are being nice and wanted to say thank you for working your socks off! It can’t be easy.

@3littlebird5 I never understand my payslips.

A statement like this always shocks me. Everyone should understand their payslip. How do you know you are being underpaid or overpaid?

I don’t work for the NHS but it took me 3 clicks to find this https://my.esr.nhs.uk/dashboard/documents/22528/656514626/Understanding+your+payslip.pdf/3b873efb-2f57-ffb8-af54-25d4af3b7e16?t=1663085464155

For most people your salary is your only source of income, not taking the time to check your payslip seems mad to me.

I was underpaid for nearly 6 months when I started a new job a few years ago. I only realised when I printed all the payslips out and lined them up that the overtime rate had dropped randomly. Took ages to get payroll to fix it and they argued the toss.

Always scrutinise your payslip!

Agreed you need to ensure that you check and understand your payslip. It can actually be considered fraudulent if you are overpaid and you don't declare it. We always laugh how people are on the phone if they think they have been underpaid but when they are overpaid they "didn't notice, I never check my payslip". 😅

Hey. A quick question. Did you have to pay any of your OMP back?
