Hello everyone, Could anyone that has already had their payslip for June tell me if the amount of tax on our pay with the lump sum this month is as bad as social media is saying? I was looking forward to payday this month, now I’m a little worried.

I'm band 6 and took home about £1300 extra in my pay this month.
I was surprised they took so much student loan - for some reason I wasn't expecting that amount to increase!

I paid nearly £200 student loan in mine, and it’s usually around £30 a month so I was shocked. Is yours similar?!

Plus the student loan always surprises people.

Not NHS but worked in HR for many moons.

Bastards 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Tippingadvice
All I'm saying is our payroll (not HR) is not very helpful. I requested 6 times to get a hypothetical breakdown of my mat pay and it took till about a month before I was going off for them to give me the breakdown of the X amount of months I asked for instead of everything but.
And I've had errors before that I've raised with them and been given conflicting advice and it's extremely stressful when errors cause you to not have the pay you should be having and then trying to get in touch with someone to actually deal with it.

I'm a band 3 and with deductions I ended up with about 1k extra.

This is good to know, are you full time?

Tippingadvice · 24/06/2023 15:59

@Monstermoomin all I was saying is people should understand their payslips.

strawberryicecream6464 · 24/06/2023 18:16

Band 2
Contracted hours 27
I got about £1k extra

Meerkitkat · 24/06/2023 18:22

Top.of band 5 (plus 3k per year r&r) I got £1700 extra.

Shopper727 · 24/06/2023 18:31

I do 22.5 and my pension contributions have made my pay rubbish. £189 123 tax and 100 ni and work 0830/4.30 so no unsociable hours I’m not much better off than I was really

WafflingDreamer · 24/06/2023 18:38

I do 28.5hrs a week top band 6 and I got about £1500 extra in my pay this month

afain · 24/06/2023 18:46

My deductions were 30%, including PAYE, pension, NI, unison, pension arrears, extra pension and extra pension arrears.

Mossstitch · 24/06/2023 19:30

WAC1 · 24/06/2023 13:41

I don't have the lump sum in my payslip 🫠

Not by any chance on zero hours contract are you like myself ? Worked through covid, got it off a patient badly pre vaccines, but not a penny of so called covid bonus comes our way as based on contracted hours🙄

JuicyPie · 24/06/2023 20:15

Tippingadvice · 24/06/2023 10:52

@JuicyPie so surely every penny counts and you would want to know if you have been underpaid? You can only do that if you check and understand your payslip.

Absolutely and of course I have a basic understanding of my payslip but I have so many types of pay - on call, called out, sat enhancement, sun enhancement, night enhancement, expenses..its impossible to keep track of all of it! My extra pay was in two separate amounts, no idea why. There is no key to help you understand it!

bakewellbride · 24/06/2023 20:20

Dh is a paramedic. He worked so hard but had over £3k deducted. The tories can fuck themselves.

Coffeeandcrocs · 24/06/2023 20:45

DH had his just now, he's been taxed 3.2k 🤢

bakewellbride · 24/06/2023 20:48

@Coffeeandcrocs that's more than we spent on our entire wedding day - and we had a nice day! It makes me so mad!

Dh just wants the money to pay the bills etc and buy stuff for our young kids, nothing fancy!

Zipporah83 · 24/06/2023 21:26

Total deductions £1900 and am on mat leave

MMorales · 24/06/2023 21:35

But that's normal.

You earn more you are taxed more.

People on here are always being told to check their privilege if they ever complain about how much they're taxes.

ElinoristhenewEnid · 25/06/2023 13:53

Do you GP surgery staff qualify for it - they usually miss out on extras like this due to their employment status?

CakeWarrior · 25/06/2023 13:57

Same as me @Mossstitch i have put in a formal complaint to my trust. I worked ITU all through covid. Only in feb left and went onto the bank for childcare reason. As this is "backpay" and i worked all through that time why the fuck am i not entitled too it!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/06/2023 14:21

I don't understand mine, but I'm very happy with what I'm
Getting. Top band 5.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/06/2023 14:22

I've got about £1800 extra
