Hi, I've namechanged for a few reasons. boring ones btw.

Anyway I'm thinking of setting up a pre school group. I don't want to say exactly what type of group for the same reasons as the name cahnge iykwim.

Lets call it a music/rhyme group.

Please can you tell me what I need to think about.

So far I've thought of,

  1. Demand in area
  2. Group content- what we'll do. -Thats sorted , its fab! Can't wait to post about it once its up and running.
  3. Location, which halls etc
  4. Set up costs - hire of hall, equipment etc.
  5. Public Liability insurance

Not sure if I'd need some sort of business permit/licence as I'd be charging parents to come etc.

And would I need to register as self employed, even though I'm employed all ready.

Thanks

I run a cookery club and it's great, and pretty simple really, if parents stay you don't need to be CRB checked, or qualified, if they go you need childcare qualifications and police checks.

Erm, you will need to register self employed I should think - let me knwo if there's anything I can help you with.

Thanks aoliver.

My friends dh has an accountent comming round on monday so I'm going to talk to him.

Parents will stay. I am qualified though.

How much is the insurance?

Do you provide refreshmants for your club?

Do your parents pay termly or as they come?

Thanks

Insurance is all dependent on your business, I suspect mine is higher as it cooking.

No to refreshements, though they do eat some of whatever we've made before they go home.

They book termly as it's very small groups - not what you've asked but for a music group I suspect drop in would be best
