i am a teacher, currently working 4 days a week at a comp. A job has been advertised at a local prep school, which i would be very interested in applying for, but a few things are holding me back:
1 - there is also a head of dept job going there and my Head of dept is applying for it - she would be my referee.
2- i have an 18m dc and am hoping to start ttc towards the end of this year
3 - i am likely to be able to continue part time in my current job but new job would be full time.
4 - no idea what the pay would be, they have their own pay scale.
5 - have had quite a few days off sick since returning to work after dc and looks bad on form.
what would you do? would you go for it? sorry for the waffle, am very undecided.

go for it. what do you have to lose. you can find out the details through the application process and see whether or not you like the place enough to go full time....

Go for it! What have you got to lose??

I'd go for it, you have nothing to lose. My ds goes to a private school though, I feel sorry for the teachers as they have to work twice as hard and the parents expect more because they are paying. Holidays are alot longer though.

Would you have to work Saturdays? I'd get the full info before making the decision. If you're not sure if you;d take the job I wouldn't apply TBH.

I wouldnt have to work saturdays but there would be the extra-curricular stuff to do. There would be, i imagine, a little more planning etc to do as it's a different exam system. I know a job like this won't come up again for a long while, and I know i fulfill a lot of their criteria but I somehow don't feel confident that even applying won't cause problems where i currently work.

i just don't know!!!!
