I START A NEW JOB ON 3RD MARCH BUT I WILL BE 8 WEEKS PREGNANT

Can anyone help me on the above please??

Just found out im pregnant a few days after accepting a new job which starts in a couple of weeks.

If i dont tell my new emplyer will it count as with holding important information, can they withdraw their offer because im pregnant??

I really dont no what to do!!

They will be discriminating against you if they dismiss you or take ANY action because you're pregnant. You don't have to tell them anything until you're good and ready.

Being pregnant doesn't mean you're not entitled to earn a living.

So my advice is start your job and tell them when you're ready. For some people that's 12 weeks for others it's later

It shouldn't make any difference to you starting the job. It will make a difference to you in terms of maternity pay entitlement I think.

Im just worried as i had a mc last november 3 days after starting a new job, i then had to have some time off as a result of having a d&c. I was then made redundant in January which i think has something to do with having time off as they gave me some rubbish 'last one in, first one out' crap but i wont go into that!!

This pregnancy has been fine compared to the first one, already had a scan and baby is healthy and looking strong but starting a new job is stressful and i sont wuna push my luck

Congrats on pregnancy Helen. You don't need to tell work yet if you don't want to, and they definitely can't withdraw their offer or anything. You must have a risk assessment done but depending on what your job is you might want that done sooner or later. Maybe think about telling your immediate line manager sooner, in case you are feeling sick or very tired a lot, then tell colleagues after 12 weeks or something?

Don't worry about it, I was about 8 weeks pregnant when I started my current role, I knew I was but as the law states I don't have to inform my employer unitl 15 weeks prior to the due date, I kept it to myself.
However, so as not to appear an evil manipulator , I made out the pregnancy was an unexpected shock I'd only just found out about, I was infact 12 weeks by then but that was 2 years ago now.
I am again in a similar situation, I am 9 weeks pregnant hadn't told my employer yet and just found out I am going to be redundant as of the 14th March so tomorrow I am pavement pounding with CV in hand trying to get a new job before I start to show. Grrr.

I no how you feel about the redundacy.. i was made redundant from my job in january, i had a mc 3 days into starting at that company in november and would have been about 4 months if the pregnancy had been successful and would have found it terrible finding another job!!

Redundancy always comes at THE WORST possible time!!!

It will affect your maternity pay, I don't think you qualify for SMP unless you've been with your employer longer than 26 weeks at 15 weeks prior to EWC. Sorry! You should get maternity allowance.

I was 17 weeks when I started a new job (interviewed at 8) and told when I was nearly 21 weeks. My view was at 8 weeks we had told no one (far too early) and I'd no idea if I'd still be pg when I started the job as anything can unfortunately happen. Then when I started I wanted to build up a bit of a relationship with my boss before telling him and working out how best to present it ie how to cover the work I was doing.

It went fine in the end.

There were some things I wasn't sure would work out with the job unrelated to pregnancy so I was prepared if it didn't work out not to work for rest of pg and put it on my cv as not being well due to pg/ not wanting to inconvenience employer because of that.

Once you have told your new employer you're pregnant and have proof of it (email to HR) then if they fire you and you contest it they will have to go to great lengths to show that it was not related to pregnancy as that would be automatically unfair dismissal and possible sex discrimination.

I forget the terminology but I didn't qualify for the statutory first 6 weeks at 90% of pay and had to make my own claim for maternity pay directly from the state but that element was the same amount as if my employer had organised it.
Unfortunately I had a massive bleed at work, I mean so bad my clothes had to be thrown away so I ended up in A&E with a suspected miscarriage, all turned out fine and I had a scan, so I told my employer that this was the first I was aware of my pregnancy and on the face of it were absolutely fine with me.
