New job in school and child that attends the school

Hi, new to this but need some advice really...
I have a daughter (6) who attends a school that I have recently been offered a job at, before applying for this role I had booked a family holiday in term time with my parents, partner, sisters etc. It's the only time we could all do it and would be a one off thing! Would never take my daughter out of school again for a holiday. My dad has been pretty ill this past year so we wanted to do something together.
Anyway my dilemma is, prior to being offered the job (I have never worked in a school before) I was just going to either inform the school I would be taking her out closer to the time or say she was ill that week.
I now have the problem of me also needing to have that week off.
I am quite an anxious person, so have been really worrying myself silly over this now. I feel like if I am honest with the school they may deny it and then I am stuck with the decision of the holiday or not accepting the job (which I really want)
I just wanted to hear some of your thoughts on it please? TIA Poppy xx

I started working in a school in October and we had a holiday booked for December, I just made them aware of this as soon as I was offered the job. Term time holidays aren't allowed so I just took the week unpaid.

Thank you, I just worry that because I would be taking my son out of school also that they would decide not to employ me.
I suppose honesty is the best policy though. X

A long time ago now, I interviewed for a job at DD's primary school
This was December.
I had to admit I'd booked a week's holiday in March for something that could only be done in this particular week, which was termtime.
I got the job, and 11 yrs later still there.

I agree with the above, I was offered a job at my daughters school and told them straight away about a holiday in term time and they said they had to honour any existing holidays and it wasn’t a problem. Obviously got fined for taking my child out though.

Thank you so much for your replies. I bit the bullet and spoke to the school, they were absolutely fine with it, just have to take it as unpaid. And most likely receive a fine.

Good to hear - honesty is ALWAYS the best policy if you're working there too!
